In 2024, an FCC regulation went into effect requiring the display of a "Broadband Consumer Label," at the point of sale for internet products. The purpose of these labels, as stated on the FCC's dedicated Broadband Label webpage is, "...to provide clear, easy-to-understand, and accurate information about the cost and performance of high-speed internet services."
More information can be found on the FCC's dedicated Broadband Label webpage. Please note, RoamingiQ is not a legal firm and will not provide legal advice, interpretations, or recommendations on information to enter for display on the Broadband label.
Setting up VAULT to display Broadband Labels in accordance with the FCC requirements is a simple two-step process.
Service Plan Settings - Within Your Service Plan Settings, click the tab called "Broadband Label." Enter the required information, and select "Save Changes"
Venue Settings - Within the Venue's Settings, enter the "Expected Latency" you want to see displayed on the label, and check the box that says "Enable Broadband Label?"
VAULT's goal is always to make it intuitive, quick, and seamless to configure your venues. The FCC regulation requires the display of some information that is service plan dependent, such as expected speeds and data policy links, along with other information that is venue dependent, such as expected latency.
If enabled, the label will appear during the service plan selection in the Shopping Cart during Self-Sign Up and within the Subscriber's Account Settings.
The FCC's dedicated Broadband Label webpage provides samples of how the Broadband labels are required to look. For more information on the display in VAULT, refer to the Subscriber Self-Sign Up of the Knowledge Base.
