View and Test Subscriber Wi-Fi Passwords
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to view Subscriber Wi-Fi Passwords in VAULT.
A Note About Wi-Fi Passwords
RoamingiQ believes a Wi-Fi password is a critical piece of personal information that belongs to Subscribers and Subscribers only. With VAULT's roaming capability, Wi-Fi passwords have more value and use than a traditional Wi-Fi password used to access a network. We fundamentally believe Wi-Fi passwords are not held up to acceptable security standards by our industry and counterparts.
That said, we also recognize the need for support staff to be able to assist subscribers when they have Wi-Fi password issues. To that end, we allow Network Administrators, and only Network Administrators, the ability to view a subscriber's Wi-Fi password.
Network Administrators should perform a thorough check to ensure the subscriber they are providing a Wi-Fi password to is indeed the actual subscriber.
How to View a Subscriber's Wi-Fi Password
Navigate to the Subscriber Details page. From there, click the "Keys" tab. Find the SSID the Subscriber is trying to connect to, and click "Show Wi-Fi Password." You will be prompted to confirm you want to view the password, and can click "Show Password," to view the Wi-Fi password.
How to Test a Subscriber's Wi-Fi Password
When Viewing a Subscriber's Wi-Fi Password, you also have the option to perform a test authentication by clicking the "Test PSK" button. You will be prompted to confirm all of the information in the test query is correct, and then click "Confirm" to perform the test. This test will send a test authentication to all of VAULT's authenticators, and respond with detailed results. Please note, performing a test authentication may cause a MAC address to show under the subscriber’s device list for up to 30 days as result of the test authentication.
